Teenzone will be:
- A place to meet others
- A place off the street that is secure and well supervised by trained volunteers
- A place with a welcome
- A place they will look forward to visiting
- A place that is well equipped with a variety of things to do
- A place with a capacity of 50 young people
- A place where wider opportunities made available
When will it open?
The start up is intended to be as soon as possible later in the autumn, meeting on a Wednesday evening.
This will increase to two or three evenings per week opening between 5pm-9pm.
Where will it happen?
The Christ Church Basement Suite has already proved itself to be ideal as this type of young persons' activity space. Since opening in November 2005 there have been regular young people's events through the week.
Equipment to suit the age range of these young people and with additional fixed and moveable furniture and fittings to offer a variety of different 'zones', will transform the Basement into a special place that these young people will be able to relate to.
What will it be called?
A group of students from the Queen Eleanor Technology College are working on the project to assist with design. They have already given it the name, 'Teenzone'. This will be incorporated in the new signage for the Learning Centre
Who will run the cafe?
Under the direction and control of the Christ Church Learning Centre Management Team it will be staffed by trained volunteers recruited through the partner organisations.
This will be professionally run by competent and skilled adults trained in understanding and sensitive to the needs of young people. All Child Protection measures will be fully complied with and the volunteers trained by the Partner organisations.
